A bigger, brighter 2012 for Sharp and European football

London, 12.01.2012

Sharp will be in Las Vegas to showcase its new 60-, 70- and 80-inch LCD TV sets for the European market as part of the preparations for its role as UEFA EUROTOP sponsor for the upcoming European Cup championship in Poland and Ukraine. From January 10-13, Sharp’s AQUOS LCD TVs will be on display, alongside new sound systems, interactive whiteboards and top-of-the-range full HD displays. For the first time Sharp is hosting a European showroom at the leading international trade fair to display all products developed for the European market.

There are still five months before the battle for the European Cup title kicks off in Poland and Ukraine. Anyone who wants to savor that special stadium feeling in their living room can view the products on offer from Sharp at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas from January 10-13. Under the slogan “Great Football on Big Screens”, Sharp’s new 60-, 70- and 80-inch models promise to deliver the greatest possible football sensation for fans who can’t be at the matches in person. “Football is about emotions in their purest form, and our new large screen models mean fans can experience the sensation as intensely as possible,” says Herman Karabetyan, Vice President of Marketing at Sharp Electronics Europe. “With these new models, our product portfolio contains the ideal TV set to suit different soccer fans’ demands throughout Europe so they can sit back and experience the upcoming soccer extravaganza at its best.”

A highlight of Sharp’s CES introductions is the LC-80LE844U 80-inch class AQUOS® 3D LED TV. It is the world’s first 80-inch class 3D LED TV, offering more than double the screen area of a 55-inch screen. The full HD 1080p LC-80LE844U features Sharp’s Quattron™ technology for more colors and the brightest 3D images, with full array LED backlighting and 240Hz to virtually eliminate blur during fast-moving video.

A BIG TV line-up
Sharp will be launching its full line of 2012 AQUOS LED TVs, ranging in size from 32-inch to 80-inch screen sizes, and includes more than 20 models with screen sizes of 60-inches or larger, with many of those models featuring 3D. All AQUOS Quattron models feature the new Quad Pixel Plus II, which offers even greater detail and smoother lines and color transitions. The 9 Series features full array LED backlighting with local dimming to improve picture quality and deliver a superior viewing experience.

Smarter Television
All appliances feature our smart TV platform AQUOS Net+, which gives viewers access to a whole host of different apps and so turns TV watching into a real multimedia experience.  YouTube videos, films, news, weather forecasts and football updates are just the touch of a remote control’s button away thanks to AQUOS Net+. The devices’ extremely low power consumption also means that they easily meet the requirements for energy efficiency class A+, helping to reduce their impact on the environment and on consumers’ budgets alike.

Sharp AQUOS Wireless Lifestyle – a new kind of freedom
For consumers looking for ultra-thin LED TVs that offer flexible placement within the home, Sharp presents its AQUOS Freestyle concepts.  Shown in four screen size classes - 20-inch, 32-, 40- and 60-inch - AQUOS Freestyle models feature a significantly slimmer and lighter design than most LED TVs.  These TVs receive high definition video via wifi, so they can be easily positioned just about anywhere in the home where there is a power outlet.

Seeing is believing with ICC-4K
In its efforts to provide consumers with the best big entertainment viewing experiences, Sharp has unveiled its ICC-4K LED TV.  Developed jointly with I-cubed Research Center Inc, ICC-4K provides four times 1080p resolution, resulting in a much jaw-dropping picture quality.  ICC, Integrated Cognitive Creation Technology not only intelligently upscales from HD to 4K but also delivers a real-viewing equivalent to the natural world.

A first: Sharp creates European showroom at Las Vegas
“Another thing that we love about the Las Vegas show is that, for the first time, we will also be displaying our new products for the European market to retailers and the press reporters,” says Herman Karabetyan. “The products we are showcasing demonstrate Sharp’s passion for creating innovative technologies that exceed consumers’ expectations. From large screen televisions to interactive touchscreen displays to the latest in solar technology, the products on display are designed to enhance people's lives at home, work, and everywhere in between.”
